New Delhi: Traffic jams are expected on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway as toll collection resumes on Monday on the high court's orders. Chaos had reigned on the weekend as vehicles jostled for space on either sides of the 32-lane highway which was made 53-lane on Friday.

Monday will be the first weekday, since the tolling was resumed. If Saturday was any indication, Monday will be chaos as usual at the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. Earlier, the the Punjab and Haryana Court had restrained toll authorities from collecting taxes for 15 days after they failed to control the flow of traffic on the expressway.

The court, on August 16, had asked the company to put additional collection windows and deploy personnel with hand held collection machines for smooth traffic movement. With the company failing to comply with the order, the court had sternly warned it of suspending collection of taxes, and had directed the Gurgaon traffic police to file a status report on the steps taken by the company in this regard.
