Japanese delegation visits Coast Guard

KOCHI: A Japanese delegation, from the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force, led by Akitaka Saiki, Ambassador of Japan in India, visited the Coast Guard District Headquarters (CGDHQ) here.
The team spoke with T K S Chandran, District Commander, District Headquarters 4. Officers of the Japanese ships also interacted with the Coast Guard officers.
Japanese and Indian Coast Guards have been interacting regularly and ships from both the countries have visited Japanese and Indian ports to participate in various joint exercises.
During the visit, a presentation on various operations carried out by Coast Guard was organised, including search and rescue, marine oil pollution response and operations in the Arabian Sea.
