Jaswant, Raje refuse to resign from BJP posts

New Delhi: Jaswant Singh might be out of the BJP but he is still giving heartaches to the saffron brigade. So much so that it prompted a visit from senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and SS Ahluwalia. Their mission: to convince Jaswant to step down from the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee, a post given from the BJP quota.

Now the party wants to gift the top job to one of the many in the party who need to be pacified. Officially though, the party is refusing to divulge the details.

"You can ask Sushmaji about all this,” BJP Spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

And that’s not all, former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, too, did not resign as many in the Rajnath Singh camp had expected. Worse, she did not even visit BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu's house and instead sent her son Dushyant to do the talking.

Though, ill health was cited as the reason, it is clear that Vasundhara is not letting go without a tough bargain.

While the BJP might say that Jaswant Singh is no more in the party and so they don't expect him to toe their line, the fact remains that Vasundhara is very much in their fold and still continuing with her defiance.

It is clear that this tumultuous phase is far from over for the party.
