New Delhi: BJP on Friday fielded its leader in Rajya Sabha Jaswant Singh as the party candidate from Darjeeling in West Bengal.
The announcement of Jaswant Singh's candidature was made by BJP President Rajnath Singh in the capital. Senior BJP leader L K Advani had held separate meetings with the leaders of the Gorkhaland Janmukti Morcha (GJM) and
Jaswant Singh on the matter on Thursday.
During the meeting, GJM candidate Dawa Sherpa had agreed to withdraw from the fray in favour of Jaswant Singh.
