Mumbai: The Jaya Bacchan -MNS standoff has a new player, big B Amitabh Bacchan himself. The superstar has responded to the controversy through his blog. This after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena rejected Jaya Bachan's 's newspaper apology demanding that she apologises on camera.
Bacchan Senior on his way back to India after his world tour, posted his blog on Tuesday morning saying. "The casual off the cuff remarks made by her at the music launch function were without malice or deliberate intent, but if it has caused hurt to the sentiments of Maharashtra, Maharashtrians and indeed the city and citizens of Mumbai then she must seek regret and offer apology."
But he also went onto say that, “Jaya's remark does not in any manner sound anti Marathi there is no denigration. But words have a funny way of being mutilated to suit a particular copy or expression, in its interpretation. At best they were more pro official/national.”
Earlier on Tuesday, bollywood actor and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan has apologised for her alleged "anti-Marathi" utterances she had made during a music launch following which Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists went on the rampage here, tearing off posters of films featuring members of the Bachchan family.
Jaya apologised and said the comments made by her were completely unintentional and that no one should take them seriously.
