New Delhi: She is one politician who is being wooed aggressively by all political fronts, from the Left to the Right. In fact, the Third Front and the Fourth Fronts are not far behind too.
BJP’s prime ministerial candidate LK Advani even went to the extent of putting it on record in an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN.
“Mayawati, no, but Jayalalithaa, yes. We are holding talks with her,” Advani had said.
But now, in a major embarrassment for the party, Jayalalithaa has denied holding any talks with the BJP.
In a statement, Jayalalithaa said, “Reports have appeared in sections of media that I am conducting talks with BJP on post poll alliance. I wish to clarify that such reports are baseless and AIADMK is not conducting talks with any political party for a possible post-poll alliance.”
In 2004 elections, BJP had switched sides and joined hands with her. Jayalaithaa was blanked out on all the 40 seats and the NDA lost.
Five years hence the political wheel has moved full circle. Now it is the AIADMK which is being hailed as the kingmaker.
Till now she has kept her options open, Jayalalithaa did promise to be a part of the Third Front but skipped the rally organised by Deve Gowda in Guntur.
