Jayalalithaa to hold rally in Madurai on Monday

CNN-IBN

Madurai: AIADMK Chief J Jayalalithaa will be holding a rally in Madurai on Monday.

Party general secretary, Jayalalithaa, is slated to address the meeting to be held in the city outskirts along the Ring Road. The demonstration has been organised to protest against the failure of the ruling party in upholding the State’s rights on Mullaiperiyar dam issue, on the lines of those meetings held in Coimbatore and Tiruchi recently.

Jayalalithaa will be holding this rally even after Jaya TV showed that the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister had received threatening letters warning that she would be killed if she visited the town.

Some senior leaders in the party are apprehensive about the security arrangements made by the police. Jayalalithaa is to be given a host of welcome in 30 different places from the airport to the venue of the meeting.

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leaders are confident that the rally would bring about a political change in the state.
