Jayalalithaa's questioning in DA case over

CNN-IBN

Bangalore: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's questioning in the Rs 66 crore disproportionate assets case is over. Jayalalithaa claimed before Special Judge BM Mallikarjunaiah at the makeshift court hall at the Parapana Agrahara Central Jail on Bangalore's outskirts on Wednesday that the entire case had been fabricated and called it a politically motivated case.

She argued that the complaint filed by Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy against her was false. She said that during her career as a film actress she worked in more than 120 films and hence has many saris, watches and footwear and all have been kept as memento.

The court ordered that the rest of proceedings of the case can happen in a regular court and put the next date of hearing on November 29.

Jayalalithaa replied 1,339 questions framed by the judge in the 15-year old case.

She has been charged with accumulation of wealth worth Rs 66 crore disproportionate to her known sources of income when she was the chief minister of Tamil Nadu between 1991-96.

The trial was transferred from a Chennai court to Bangalore in 2003 by the Supreme Court on a petition by DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan.
