New Delhi: The BJP on Saturday formally announced the withdrawal of support to the JD (S) Government in Karnataka and demanded that fresh elections be held in the state immediately.
The formal announcement came a day after JD (S) chief HD Deve Gowda told BJP President Rajnath Singh on Friday evening that his party is not ready to transfer power to the saffron party in the state.
All BJP ministers in the HD Kumaraswamy Government in Karnataka had earlier submitted their resignation to the CM after the JD(S) failed to honour its October 3 deadline for the transfer of power.
The BJP Parliamentary Board had convened an emergency meeting earlier on Saturday to take a decision regarding withdrawal of support to the Janata Dal(S) led government in Karnataka after the JD(S) had stated in clear terms that there could be no consensus on the issue of transfer of chief ministership to former Deputy Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa of the BJP.
Yediyurappa has said his party will take the issue to the people of Karnataka.
“We'll go around the entire state. We will explain everything to the people of Karnataka. How the JD (S) people have cheated us. Public will support us and we will get absolute majority on our own and we'll form the government. Both the JD (S) and BJP were happy with the results. Now because of some many other reasons, one of them is that Deve Gowda wants the Chief Ministership to be continued by his son. That is the main reason that all these things are happening. We ready to wait for another six months. We are going to be in majority. We will form the government,” says Yediyurappa.
