JD-U leader, son accused of murder on the run

Patna: Senior Janata Dal (United) JD-U leader Vijay Krishna, considered close to Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Nitish Kumar, is on the run along with his son on charges of murder and kidnapping.

This comes as a big embarrassment to the ruling JD-U that has been on a drive to make the state crime free.

Vijay Krishna, a two-time Member of Parliament (MP) from Bihar was in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) top lineup till some time ago and is considered close to Nitish Kumar.

Krishna and his son are presently on the run as they have been accused with the kidnapping and murder of a Patna based JD-U worker Satyendra Singh.

"Vijay Krishna, uska beta aur body guard, tino ki sazish hai, (Vijay Krishna, his son and his bodyguard are all behind this conspiracy)," said Satyendra Singh's wife Laxmi Singh.

Krishna went into hiding on May 23, the same day Satyendra disappeared. Satyendra's family then approached the CM.

Seeing his proximity with the CM, the family was initially apprehensive of getting justice. The CM's door was knocked and now they are hopeful of impartial probe and getting justice despite the accused being the part of the power hub.

"Police bilkul nispakchata se janch kaar rahi hai. Kisi ko karwahi par shak nahi hona chahiye, (Police is investigating without any bias. No one should doubt the investigations)," said Nitish Kumar.

Police believe Krishna and his son may have killed Satyendra out of political rivalry and then dumped his body in the Ganga. Navy divers have been called in to find the body.

"Jab tak karvahi poori nahi ho jati, saare sabut hath main nahi aa jata, tab tak kuch nahi bolenge (Till the investigations don't conclude and all the evidence is not discovered, one can't say anything till then)," said SSP Patna, Mallar Vizzi.

And even as police search for Krishna, the ruling JD-U is trying to wriggle out of the embarrassing situation.
