New Delhi: Janata Dal (United) and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are not in favour of Narendra Modi campaigning in the state during the upcoming Assembly elections. But the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is the partner of JD (U) in Bihar, wants Modi to campaign.

The Gujarat Chief Minister is the most sought most sought after BJP leader across the country. He is "Hindu Hriday Samrat" to some, a CEO to corporate world and a rabble rouser to his opponents. Whatever he does always has a loud impact.

Now as he gets embroiled in an eyeball to eyeball confrontation over an advertisement showing him holding hands with Nitish Kumar with his ally and the Bihar Chief Minister, questions are being raised about whether Modi will have any role to play in campaigning in Bihar during the forthcoming elections.

"Going by the response and the excitement among the people, I feel that people of Bihar would like to see Modi once in Bihar," said Bihar BJP leader and party spokesperson Rajeev Pratap Rudy.

Modi's ability to general political heat with high-voltage comments are unparalleled within the BJP.

But ironically Modi has never been allowed to campaign in Bihar either during the Assembly elections or last year's Lok Sabha elections.

With Nitish wooing the minorities in Bihar aggressively, Modi's involvement in the Bihar unit of his party has always been a tricky subject, often to party's own Muslim candidates.

"There are many leaders in the BJP. All are in a position to campaign anywhere," said Shahnawaz Hussein, a Muslim leader of the BJP.

Ironically after the advertisement fiasco the mood within the BJP is to bring Modi in Bihar to campaign. But the elections are still a few months away and hard political calculations in the end will win over some heartburn that may have been caused momentarily.
