In a breakthrough year, Jeev played an incredible 39 tournaments in 11 different countries. He finshed in the top 10 in 18 of those events and won four.
In many ways, the win at the Volvo China Open was the win that opened the floodgates for Jeev Milkha Singh.
"I have let so many go away that, today I told myself even if I let this go it doesn't make a difference. So I might as well just go out there and play my game. And the reverse psychology worked for me and I played well," Jeev said after winning the Volvo China Open earlier this year.
Starting the year on 376th in the rankings, Jeev was struggling with his swing and clueless about why in spite of all his efforts, he had not won a single title in the past seven years.
The Volvo China Open win in April this year clearly gave his career a new lease of life.
What followed was a dream run. Jeev followed up his China Open win by winning the biggest paycheque by an Indian spostsman at the Volvo Masters of Europe.
His two wins in Japan were the first two in six years on that tour, and his earnings have now become the talk of the town.
With 18 worldwide top-10 finishes, no wonder he won the coveted UBS Order of Merit title after finishing joint third in the UBS Hong Kong Open recently.
Jeev has also broken into the top 50 in the world and is now ranked 37th, a summit no Indian has ever reached before.
A top-50 place in world rankings ensures he will play all the Majors next year. It will be a proud moment for Indian sporting fans to see their very own Jeev Milkha Singh walk the course and compete with the best in the golfing globe.
