New Delhi: Even as the BJP tried to present a united face at its national executive meeting in Mumbai, one of its senior leaders has written to party president Nitin Gadkari, criticising the party.

Rajya Sabha MP Ram Jethmalani in his letter to Gadkari saying, "The party (BJP) is sick. I presume you are concerned about the sickness of the party (BJP) which registers no response the the greater sickness of the ruling party (Congress).

The letter was written on May 23, a day before the Mumbai national executive meeting began.

Jethmalani's letter hints at infighting in the BJP.

"Nation wants feverish action, instead it gets tongue tied leaders busy pulling down one another and creating unmistakable impression that they are suffering from some inexplicable inertia and paralysis," Jethmalani says in his letter.

Attacking the party over the silence on presidential candidate, Jethmalani says, "Party's strange somnolence on the occasion of imminent election of nation's President is showing our bankruptcy of talent that we cannot announce a name better than the current Finance Minister."

Jethmalani did not attend the National executive meet.

Jethmalani further in his letter says, "Half the members of the cabinet ought to be in Jail. Our party leaders should be going around the country and proclaiming the stark truth."

The letter by Jethmalani is yet another setback for the party president who tried hard during the meet to bring together all discordant pieces, with senior leaders LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj skipped the national executive meet.
