Jamshedpur: A five year old tribal girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour at Kuluptanga bustee in Seraikela-Kharswan district, the police said on Monday. The girl was alone at her home on Sunday when the accused Durga Munda entered the house and committed the crime.
The incident came to light when she narrated it to her mother when she returned home at night, they said. The police arrested the culprit after an FIR was lodged against the accused with the RIP police station this morning. The girl was admitted to M G M Hospital for a medical check-up after being referred by Adityapur Primary Health Centre where she was admitted first.
M G M Hospital had first refused to admit her on the plea that the incident had taken place in adjoining Adityapur and was sent back Adityapur. However, the intervention of a senior district police official made it possible for the girl to get admitted to M G M Hospital at last, sources said.
