Ranchi: There has been a massive change in the terror tactics of the Naxals as the bodies of missing CRPF personnel were found with explosives, two days after an encounter saw 10 personnel being killed. A bomb was recovered from the body of security personnel who was brought in for post mortem at a Ranchi hospital after the Naxal encounter.
The Home Ministry sources now say that the CRPF operations in Latehar, where the encounter took place, are being escalated. More troops will be sent to Latehar, sources add. Sources also say some of the top leaders of Maoists are suspected to be present in the area.
The Naxals booby-trapped the bodies with explosives which exploded subsequently, killing 10 CRPF personnel and three civilians on Monday. The bomb disposal squad was called in after the doctors sensed there was a bomb inside the body of a security personnel and refused to conduct the post mortem.
The police say that the explosive was planted in one of the three bodies recovered later. The police add that crude IED that was planted could have gone off with minimum pressure.
Out of the bodies of three personnel recovered, we found explosive planted in one of the bodies, Director General of Police GS Rath said.
Ranchi SSP Saket Kumar Singh said, "Stitches were located on the body, so the post-mortem was put on hold. An X-ray showed a bomb inside the body. The bomb disposal squad was trying to diffuse the bomb."
