Silli (Jharkhand): It’s a different ball game, but it’s his first love. Jharkhand’s posterboy and India’s star wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni takes off his gloves and puts on his football shoes whenever he gets the time.

So the cricket icon was in the Silli football ground in Jharkhand to promote football. It was ironic, but it was effective.

Dhoni says: "I think this is for the development of sports, and not only for cricket or football, as it inspires the local sports enthusiasts. And we will try to continue doing these promotion, not only for cricket and football, but other sports as well."

For sports enthusiasts of who had come from villages in and around Silli, this was a wonderful opportunity to have a glimpse of their very own star who made it big. Some of them had even come armed with binoculars.

A spectator at the match says: "He’s my favourite sportsperson. It feels good to watch him play. And he’s in front of me."

Dhoni, meanwhile, enjoyed every moment of this rare break from cricket and played to the gallery, disappointing neither the crowd nor his team mates.

Football never had it better in this small town in Jharkhand.
