Mumbai: News of a horrific instance of love gone awry has rocked Pune, after 26-year-old IT professional Anushree Kundra, angered after hearing about her former lover's engagement, allegedly set ablaze her ex-boyfriend and his fiance while they were asleep.
Anushree Kundra reached her former boyfriend, Nimesh Sinha's Pune house at 4:30 pm on Wednesday and a heated argument broke out between Kundra and Sinha regarding the latter's impending marriage with 26-year-old lawyer, Juhi Prasad.
The argument escalated after Juhi Prasad arrived and the trio stayed up till 4:30 am to discussing things.
While Nimesh and Juhi slept in the bedroom, Anushree allegedly woke up at 7 am and sourced petrol from a nearby area and allegedly set the couple ablaze at around 9:00 am while they were asleep.
Anushree later locked the house and fled, leaving Juhi 80 per cent burnt and Nimesh 60 per cent. Both were later admitted to a hospital in a serious condition.
"Anushree and Nimesh were in a relationship earlier. She came to his house and insisted that he marries her," said Sanjay Jadhav, DCP (Crime), Pune.
While Nimesh and Juhi are battling for their lives, the police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Anushree and have sent teams to Delhi and Bangalore to nab her and find out what exactly led to the incident.
