New Delhi: In a race of many firsts Bobby Jindal may become the first Indian-American to run for the post of America's Vice-President.
He is one of the three potential running mates Republican nominee John McCain is meeting this weekend.
The New York Times website reported that McCain has invited Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Florida governor Charlie Crist, and former Massachusetts governor and Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney to his Arizona home.
Romney, 61, who lost the Republican nomination battle to McCain, has made clear he would seriously consider a vice presidential offer. Crist, 51, who took office last year, has been a little coy.
Even the perception that they are under consideration could be more a matter of appearance than reality: the mere impression that McCain is considering Crist of Florida, for example, could by itself help him in a critical state where McCain campaigned Wednesday, the New York Times suggested.
Jindal's office issued a statement confirming the meeting, but said nothing about vice-presidential prospects.
Thirty-six-year-old Jindal offers an age counterbalance to McCain, who, if elected, would be the oldest US president to take his first-term oath of office.
