J&K: 2 terrorists, Armyman killed in encounter in Handwara

Srinagar: Two terrorist and an Army personnel were killed in an encounter in Handwara in Kupwara district of Kashmir on Tuesday morning. Sources say that nearly 30-40 terrorists are present in the area.

Troops of 30 Rashtriya Rifles and police launched a cordon and search operation in Haril Manzpora village of Handwara in the jurisdiction of police station Kalamabad following information about the presence of terrorists, said police.

The terrorists fired upon the search party following which the security forces retaliated triggering an encounter in which two terrorists were killed and an Armyman Sandeep Kumar of 30 RR also lost his life in the encounter.

Two AK 47 rifles and six AK magazines were recovered from the slain terrorists.

The search operation was still going on when the reports last came in.
