New Delhi: A day after the swearing-in ceremony, the Cabinet is working hard to prepare a 100 day economy revival plan.
The earlier stimulus packages may not have yielded the desired results so the Government wants to again look at it. And at a time when so many have lost their jobs, the new stimulus package will focus on employment generation.
“We have made promises which have to be kept,” says Home Minister P Chidambaram.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his core team believes that the mandate is for inclusive growth.
“Fast inclusive growth is the target,” says senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily.
Priority at the moment is increase of domestic demand and domestic investment, the Government will try to facilitate better export performance.
This will underline its policy preferences in President Pratibha Patil's address to Parliament in the first week of June.
The budget will be hopefully presented by July 31 and is expected to unveil some reforms which were blocked by the Left.
“Domestic sector is our target,” says Cabinet minister Kamal Nath.
