The police busted a job racket and nabbed a four-member gang at Kailasgiri police quarters here on Thursday.
According to the PM Palem police, two accused were police personnel, a waterman at the Police Training College in Vizianagaram and a woman. The police recovered Rs 3.
8 lakh, two cars (Indica and Innova), 18 sovereigns of gold, 21 fake railway applications and seven cell phones from the accused.
The accused were identified as B Surya Prakasha Rao and K Srinivasa Rao (Armed Reserve police constables), K Satyanarayana, waterman at Police Training College, Vizianagaram and P Neha Sajith, Contonment, Vizianagaram.
The police said the racket came to light after one M Ramu of Pogiri village in Srikakulam district on Sept 25 lodged a complaint stating that he was cheated by all the four accused.
He said the accused promised him a railway job in return for Rs 1 lakh.
The CP said the woman member of the gang (named as A1) posed as file manager in the Indian Railway Service, and the rest lured the gullible unemployed youth.
They would introduce the gullible youths to the A-1 who would show her fake identity card and collect Rs 1 lakh from each youth.
