New Delhi: America has a new Idol. The Wednesday night finale of the popular talent show saw 17-year-old Jordin Sparks from Arizona became the youngest Idol-winner ever.
She beat the boxing entertainer Blake Lewis from Washington.
Sparks was announced the winner. Viewers gave her a majority of the record 74million votes cast.
The two-hour show opened with Lewis and Sparks performing the Beatles track I Saw Her Standing There, followed quickly by a touring Gwen Stefani singing 4 in the Morning via satellite from Massachusetts.
Not surprisingly, Sparks was overwhelmed at being crowned the youngest and latest American Idol.
