Joseph reiterates remarks on dam panel report

TIRUVALLA: Water Resources Minister P J Joseph has
reiterated his remarks made against Justice K T Thomas, the member of the High-Powered Committee on Mullaperiyar dam, who upheld the panel report that the dam was safe.
 Talking to newsmen here on Monday, Joseph, who was here in connection with the review on the drinking water supply projects,  said that the remarks made against Justice Thomas was on his personal capacity.
 The Minister said that Justice Thomas represented  the state in the committee and the view should have been expressed by keeping in mind the larger interests of the people of the state.
 He said that the Cabinet was supportive of his remark against Mullaperiyar panel report in which Justice K T Thomas also put his
signature.
 On Cultural Affairs Minister K C Joseph’s comment against him,  Joseph said that the Cultural Affairs Minister made the comment against him without going through the details of the report.
 The Minister said tthe government would submit its view to the Supreme Court, which allowed the state to present its view before July 23.
For the purpose, the government will seek the view of lawyers, the Water  Resources Ministere said.
