New Delhi: Chairman of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee Murli Manohar Joshi has refuted allegations that he had put pressure on the CAG's office over the 2G report.
Speaking exclusively to CNN-IBN, he also questioned the credibility of the lead CAG auditor RP Singh who alleged that he was forced to accept the Rs 1.76 lakh crore loss figure.
"The credibility of RP Singh itself is a suspect. If RP Singh can vet reports by others, why can't his report be vetted," Joshi said. "It seems there is a deeper conspiracy behind his conflicting stands," he added.
CNN-IBN had accessed a letter written by CAG senior official RB Sinha to Deputy CAG Rekha Gupta, being used by the Congress to accuse PAC Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi of influencing the CAG probe. The letter reads, "Tremendous pressure on him from Parliament , media etc about investigations being done by the PAC in the 2G scam. The probe if further delayed would provide an opportunity to the executive to cover up."
