Guwahati: Gaurav Jyoti Neog, the TV journalist of News Live channel, who allegedly shot the video of the molestation of a girl in Guwahati on July 9, has been arrested. Neog had been accused by Team Anna member Akhil Gogoi of allegedly instigating the mob.
The Gauhati High Court on Thursday rejected Neog's anticipatory bail petition.
The police booked Neog after questioning him for allegedly concealing facts about the investigation.
Sources say there is enough evidence to suggest his complicity in the case. The unedited footage of the incident has been sent for tests.
Neog had resigned from News Live, which aired the footage of the molestation, after allegations were levelled against.
The police arrest Neog even as many molesters including the main accused roam free. Angry journalists in Guwahati say Neog is being made a scapegoat, and have held protests.
