London: A lifesife mechanical elephant caused a major traffic jam in London on Thursday.
Blasting dust into the air, an elephant matching the height of a three-storey house lumbered out of Horseguards Parade.
Making it’s way through a crowd of several thousand people, the giant animal then approached the Mall. It then walked the thoroughfare that runs between Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace right into the heart of London city.
No one complained. In fact the onlookers cheered with delight as the elephant sprayed them with water, which was a welcome surprise shower on one of London's hottest days this year
Built of wood and metal and weighing 42 tonnes, it is the creation of a French performance art company, Royal de Luxe.
And the cost of staging the show was ‘elephantine’ afcourse, £one million for detail seekers. The Jumbo show will go on until Sunday.
