New Delhi: Sujoy Ghosh has put the disappointment of 'Aladin' behind him as he awaits the release of 'Kahaani', which he says became possible only because Vidya Balan believed in the story. Balan plays a pregnant NRI woman searching for her missing husband in Kolkata. The film hits theatres this week.
"'Kahaani' is more of Vidya's baby than mine today. She had a certain belief in the film and today she is proud of it. She was not just an actor on the film; she was much more than that. She knew everything about what was happening on the
production front. At times she even managed crowds when things became a little unruly while shooting," Ghosh told PTI.

Sujoy Ghosh has put the disappointment of \'Aladin\' behind him as he awaits the release of \'Kahaani\'.
The director says they hoped for a smooth sailing when they started work on the movie but things became difficult when his Amitabh Bachchan starrer debut 'Aladin' flopped.
"When we were writing 'Kahaani', 'Aladin' was yet to be released and we felt that it would be a superhit. However things changed and there was this mountain of a strong 'No' in front of us," says Ghosh.
"Everyone had a view on what I should make next. 'Kahaani' hardly seemed to be the kind of film they felt I should be doing. I kept my faith intact and didn't give up. I would have made this film even if 'Aladin' was a hit. I guess then the journey would have been easier though."
The director is not too worried as the film approaches its release date. "I don't want to analyse these aspects so much. I would rather live in an uncertainty to see what really happens on the Friday of it's release. Till then I want to sleep happy at night. There is no set formula that tells you whether a film will work or not. I wanted to work with Vidya and I have achieved that."
Ghosh does not feel that having a pregnant woman as the protagonist was a risk. "The story demanded a pregnant woman in the central role. We wanted a well known face since it is the demand of the film and we got it in Vidya. She is a delight of an actress because you just can't find any flaws in her acting."
