Kailash Kher on his favourite cabaret

Goa: A concert was held at the 37th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa in honour of legendary composer R D Burman on Tuesday. Varsha Pillai caught up with the singer Kailash Kher to ask him about his favourite R D Burman songs.

Varsha Pillai: Are there any special songs that you will sing for R D Burman?

Kailash Kher: Every song is special to the artist. And when it comes to giving a tribute to the legends of yesteryears, it’s like giving a tribute to your ancestors. As far as R D Burman is concerned, he’s an institution for any artist of today’s times. It’s a great moment for me to be part of such a great moment.

Varsha Pillai: Which particular song will you sing for the audience?

Kailash Kher: I’m singing Jai Jai Shiv Shankar with Shankar bhai (Mahadevan).

Varsha Pillai: Which is your favourite cabaret of R D Bruman.

Kailash Kher: Mehbooba O Mehbooba from Sholay.
