Mumbai: IIT Bombay turned 50 on Wednesday and former President and teacher Abdul Kalam was there to wish the institute a happy birthday on Teachers' Day.
Over 5000 students and 400 teachers got together to celebrate Teacher's Day, and kick start the Institute's 50th year celebrations at IIT Bombay and who better to help light up the proceedings than Kalam.
Kalam said, “As a teacher I will organise and conduct my life in such a way that my life itself is a message for my students."
The function was attended by several heavyweights from the worlds of Science, Technology and Business and they put forth their vision for the country.
Bajaj Auto Chairman Rahul Bajaj said, “We need to become more competitive... not just just in terms of cost and quality but also in terms of innovation."
Meanwhile, students went about displaying their latest creations from gizmo jackets with silicon lockets in their pockets to complex Geographical Information Systems to new and improved post boxes.
