Malwan, UP: The Howrah-Delhi-Kalka Mail accident at Malwan in Uttar Pradesh is perhaps one of the worst rail accidents in recent times that leaves behind more than 60 people dead and hundreds injured, with the death toll still rising.
For those who lost their loved ones life will never be the same. In the midst of the madness and chaos, one can't help but notice a child crying helplessly. But little Lori didn't even understand the magnitude of the tragedy that has struck her.
"I was with my mother, father and younger brother," said Lori.
Lori was travelling with her parents and brother from Kolkata to Delhi. At the Omni hospital in Fatehpur, she sat next to the bodies of a woman and a young boy - unable to identify them, because she was in complete shock. Lori's father has still not been found.
On the same train, 14-year-old Shahana was going to Delhi with her family, when the Kalka Mail went off the tracks at 12:20 in the afternoon. She saw her mother die in front of her eyes, even as she searched for her missing brother. She hoped against hope that he was alive and safe somewhere. But on Monday morning, her worst fears had come true - her brother had died too.
In the midst of this tragedy, some have managed to find the people they had lost. But among these mangled remains there are just so many stories of people whose lives have been completely wrecked.
