Click to play videoNew Delhi: A week after Arun Gupta was shot dead in Kalkaji, the Delhi Police claims to have cracked the case. The accused were tracked down jointly by the South District Police and the Special Cell. The police have arrested four of the accused, but two of the three hired killers are still on the run.
Delhi Police Commissioner, Y S Dadhwal says, "This was a well planned murder. The cause of murder is property and financial dispute within the family."
In January, Dinesh Mittal, Arun Gupta's brother-in-law, with the help of his employee Mohammed Haroon, promised Rs 10 lakh to one Mohammed Parvez and Afroz for hiring contract killers.
"A man named Junaid and two others had recced Kalkaji three times and then finally killed him on April 7," says Dadhwal.
Dinesh feared that Arun was all set to sell off a family property worth crores, to which he would not be a beneficiary.
Arun Gupta's son, Rishabh Gupta says, "It's good that he has been arrested. My family was worried about our security. But nothing is going to bring my father back."
The Special Cell is known for handling cases related to espionage and terrorism and the fact that the Delhi Police had to take help from it to solve the case only puts serious doubts on the efficiency of the district police itself.
