Shimla: Two people were killed and six injured on Sunday morning when a Kalka-Shimla holiday special train derailed near Dharampur in Himachal Pradesh, an official said.
"The train left Kalka railway station at 0700 hrs IST. It derailed at Sanwara near Dharampur after two hours of journey," Solan Deputy Commissioner Amandeep Garg told IANS.
He said that the engine and two coaches of the train had derailed. The injured have been admitted to the primary health centre in Dharampur, 60 km from Shimla.
Five train services run to and fro daily on the world heritage Kalka-Shimla rail line in Himachal Pradesh. Two special holiday trains had been started Saturday to cater to the Christmas and New Year rush.
