Kamal Hassan takes to Gandhigiri

Chennai: Gandhigiri caught the attention of the nation in the year 2006. And now, thanks to actor Kamal Hassan who is taking the craze down south.

"The life I'm trying to live to the best of my knowledge is inspired by Gandhiji. He's over the years again and again proved that he's a worthy hero,” says Kamal Hassan.

So while books and films on the Mahatma has caught the imagination of many people, Kamal Hassan is not too behind either.

At the launch of Tushar Gandhi's book Let's Kill Gandhi, the actor shared his long-cherished dream of making a short film on Gandhi.

"It's something that I wanted to do-it's called Lead on Gandhi. I wanted to talk about a bullet that went into him and I wanted to trace the whole trajectory of the bullet,” says Kamal Hassan.

As for the critics of his movie Hey Ram, who said that the film glorified Godse, Hassan feels that they are wrong.

"That's a very pedestrian and stupid assessment of the film,” he says.

So is the actor game for a remake of Lage Raho Munnabhai?

"I'd like to make more originals. Probably a movie on new Gandhi. I'm not comfortable with remakes,” Hassan says.

However, anything about the upcoming film Dasavatharam is a closely guarded

"The movie is coming out well, and the reason why I cannot come for many functions is that I keep changing my get-ups and sometimes I'm not presentable,” Kamal Hassan says.
