The Kannada film 'God Father' coming after six years of original film 'Varalaaru' - Ajith starrer film has been a hit film in Tamil Nadu. It is engaging and absorbing because of super star Upendra handling the triple roles.

It is not that easy for an actor to adjust to three varieties in one film. Upendra a director in him and known for charged up roles in his career has made it look easy. The audience in the theatre applauding when he gets up from wheel chair, it is ultimate Upendra. The flashback of 'God Father' puts behind all the other characters.

In his debut direction S Sriram a brilliant cameraman showed how strong he is in bringing it to Kannada. He has used the brain and brought down in the length from the original. Remaking is also not an easy task.

Kannada Review: 'Godfather' has engaging story

Actor Upendra has excelled in all the three roles he played in 'Godfather', but his role as a old man is the best.

What is all about this 'God Father' - The insult on the manly power Shiva a great dancer faces makes him 'God Father'. For the girl Sujatha (Catherine) who doubted his manly ability Shiva shows how potent he is. As a result Sujatha is delivered with two kids. One takes birth after another. At this time the family drama changes the calculations. Sujatha selling her property walks about with a child Ajay. She faces lot of ordeals for that her young son is a witness.

On the other hand another boy named as Vijay grows up in aristocracy in the hands of Shiva who is a 'Grand Father'. 'God Father' is not aware that there is another similar boy like Vijay. The developments in the family of 'God Father' lead to a suspicion. 'God Father' faces an attack from lookalike of his son. He goes for a solid hit back. At this time 'God Father' gets up from wheel chair the developments moving fact is very captivating and keeps the audience glued to the seats.

It is a different turn when Vijay knows all about his father. Ajay enters to forgive him. Another enemy of 'God Father' shoots him. The sick mother of Ajay and sickness of Ajay is also put an end.

It is one of the career best performances from Upendra. It is a treat for his fans. He is now doubt a great actor cum director. The scripts like this are what evading this actor cum director. For 'God Father' role learning Bharathanatyam and expressing the female gestures Upendra home work is tremendous.

Here comes a sweet looking Soundarya. Even in Upendra dominated cinema she strikes with naughty looks and her sweet close ups gets her a resounding career. Daughter of stalwart actress of Kannada cinema Dr Jayamala - pretty actress has come here to stay. No doubt a star is born from star couple family.

Catherine has got a good deviation from glam roles. She is in Saree, as mother tears dropping from eyes done her best. Ramesh Bhat is pinch hitter in supporting roles.

In his main work Cinematography S Sriram has given some memorable shots. It is a pleasure to the eyes.

The eminent music director of this country AR Rahman tunes has got the magic touch. Alapane mellane....sanchari Manassu....Laali Laali Amma...Sarigama Sangamave...Nannedhe Shruthiyalli.....are good mixture of melody and peppy tunes.

Deepavali song and Neene Yi Kanna...are not part of the film but are found in the album.

Editing work, art direction and action direction are in good standards.
