Kannauj: In another corporal punishment shocker, a class five student in Kannauj died allegedly after being beaten by his teacher. The family claims the boy returned home late and was very weak. He was rushed to a hospital when he collapsed but died a few hours later.
The school principal maintains the boy was sent back home since he was unwell. School Principal YP Singh said, "The teacher didn't beat the student. The student was ill so we sent him home. We do not have any facility to take him to the hospital so we did whatever seemed right at that point."
However, police claim there are signs that the boy was beaten. A post-mortem report is awaited.
