Kanpur: A youth on Tuesday assaulted a 14-year-old girl after a failed rape attempt in the Chaubeypur area in Kanpur, police said. The girl, a Class X student and resident of Joravarpur village, was on way to her school when Chaggan who also belongs to the same village forcefully dragged her to the fields and tried to rape her, SP Rural Area Manoj Sonkar said.
When the girl spurned the rape attempt and tried to raise an alarm, Chaggan attacked her with the handle of a bicycle, he said. According to sources, the girl suffered injuries in her private parts in the assault.
Police, however, said the girl has been sent for a medical test and only her the medical report is received any conclusive remark about the injuries could be made.

The girl was on way to her school when the accused forcefully dragged her to the fields and tried to rape her, police said.
