Kanpur: In yet another case of alleged harassment, a youth and his friends drove a postgraduate student to commit suicide in the industrial town of Kanpur. The woman had registered a complaint against a fellow student and his two friends, but no action was taken in the case by the police.

The woman's family alleges that she was being blackmailed and threatened by the accused. Police have recovered a suicide note which names the three accused.

"We found that a boy was harassing her and demanding money. He threatened to put some of her pictures on the Internet if she didn't comply with his demands," alleged the mother of the MA student.

"A note has been found saying the men harassed her which led to her suicide. Investigation is going on and strict actions will be taken," Inspector General of Police, Kanpur Zone, PK Tewari said.
