Express News Service | Updated Oct 10, 2012 at 04:51pm IST

In a first, the Lokayukta Court on Monday ordered a probe  against Lokayukta SP and Bangalore Urban DC following a complaint of corruption.

Judge N K Sudhindra directed Additional Director General of Police (Lokayukta) Satyanarayan Rao to conduct an investigation into the complaint and submit a report by November 7.

On September 27,  R Srinivas Murthy, a real estate agent, complained to the court that Lokayukta SP Shivashankar had leaked information to Deputy Commissioner (Bangalore Urban) M K Aiyappa about a case against him (DC).

Murthy said he wanted to file a complaint with the Lokayukta against Aiyappa for allegedly demanding bribe through his clerk for an official favour.  However, after hearing him, Shivashankar sent him back to get more evidence, informing Aiyappa about the complaint. “When I approached Aiyappa, he confined me in his chamber, abused me and threatened me with dire consequences,” the complainant said.

Shivashankar was in news recently for allegedly meeting former CM B S Yeddyurappa’s son and Shimoga MP B Y Raghavendra, who is facing cases in the Lokayukta court.
