Mumbai: It took an MMS clip allegedly featuring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur to make their hush-hush affair 'official' in 2004. Three years down after much buzz on the grapevine about a break-up between the couple and the entry of the now single Saif Ali Khan into Kareena's life – all it took was a statement from Saif to make things official.

“Yes, we are not exactly shouting from the rooftops but yes, clearly we are together. And we are happy together,” Saif said.

News is that while Saif and Kareena were making their first public appearance at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai, Shahid was spotted celebrating Navaratri at a function in Ahemdabad.

But just as news of Saif and Kareena admitting to being a couple came, Shahid gave the press a slip.

Though Shahid and Kareena were seen declaring 'love till death do us apart' a few months back on a popular chat show, the chemistry between the two was fizzling out, much like their onscreen appearances which failed to set the cash registers ringing.

And though the tabloids had declared a split between the two Kapoors – a clear admission was never made.

“I have seen Shahid from his first film to Jab We Met and I can say that there is a marked difference. According to me he is a bundle of talent waiting to explode. I have that much of faith in him as an actor,” Kareena had said a while ago.

Before Saif and Kareena came out clean about their affair, the couple were spotted bonding on the sets of their new film Tashan and painting the town red while off work at hotspots in Mumbai and Delhi.

According to reports Kareena has now also bagged a role in Saif's first home production Agent Vinod.

Ironically the official break-up between Bollywood's original cute couple Shahid and Kareena comes just a week before the release of what’s being touted as their best work so far – a romantic drama titled Jab We Met.
