New Delhi: It's Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's 85th birthday on Tuesday, and the DMK is all geared up to celebrate the day despite his appeal to stay away from extravaganza.
A large number of party workers are expected to visit the DMK supremo along with Union Ministers Pranab Mukherjee and Praful Patel.
What’s more, hotel and restaurant owners are planning to announce on Tuesday a cut in prices of idli, dosa, pongal and vada prices.
In fact, at a meeting with State Food Minister EV Velu on Monday, representatives of the Hotel Owners' Association resolved to reduce the prices of by about 10 to 15 per cent, an official press release said.
The Dravidian patriarch had requested partymen not to hold any public function, but senior DMK leader and General Secretary K Anbazhagan gave a go-ahead saying a grand celebration is in the offing.
Not in the mood for revelry, Karunanidhi has off late been concerned about the growing difference between his sons M K Stalin and M K Azhagiri.
However, the party convened its General Council and announced that there will be no leadership change till December.
