Porbander: Families of the fishermen who were on the trawler Kuber when it was taken off the Gujarat coast by terrorists who attacked Mumbai on November 26, 2008, say that convict Ajmal Kasab's hanging has helped them get justice. All the five fishermen, including the captain of the fishing boat Kuber were killed by Kasab and his accomplices as they made their way to Mumbai via the sea route.
Rani Solanki, whose husband was the captain on the trawler, said that justice had finally been served. Her husband, Amarsingh Solanki was kept alive by the terrorists till they reached Mumbai's shores. He was then shot dead. "A person who killed so many innocent people including my husband deserved to be hanged and whatever has happened is correct. I will never allow my son to go fishing," Rani said.
Hitesh, Amarsingh's son, said, "We are happy and satisfied today that our father's killer has been given the strictest of punishment." For the Kuber trawler owner Hiralal Masani, there has been no Diwali celebrations. However, Kasab's death at Pune's Yerwada Jail on Wednesday, brought some cheer for him.
"We had not celebrated Diwali for the past four years. Now we will celebrate in memory of the dead fishermen," Masani said. Although the trawler has resumed its fishing trips, people still see it as the boat used by terrorists to wreak havoc in Mumbai.
