Kasab names unknown Indian as terror aide

Mumbai: The lone captured terrorist from the Mumbai terror attack has named one Abu Jundal or Abu Jindal who helped him learn Hindi.

Kasab said that Abu was an Indian operative but the investigators have been thrown out of gear over the real identity of this alleged Indian operative.

Many feel that this is only a ploy by Kasab to delay the case and also throw the investigators into a wild geese chase.

Public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said, "We think he (Kasab) is well briefed, well advised and well managed."

There are many versions being offered at the moment about the identity of Abu Jundal.

It is also not clear whether he is dead or alive or only an alias for a terror operative.

Sources say that the Lashkar-e-Toiba never includes any Indian in its key operations. For something as big as the Mumbai strikes, that code wouldn't have been violated.

Most importantly, Kasab will now have to be sent back to police custody for verification of the claims made by him.

His defence lawyer Abbas Kazmi said, "Very precisely, he has said that it is an Indian operative and he had taught them Hindi. He has also said that Abu Jundal was present from Karachi to the end of the attack process."

This is the second time that a charge of an Indian link has come to light in this case. Just recently, a British TV channel too had done an investigative report suggesting that the entire operation was executed with the help of local operatives in Mumbai.

This is one charge that is yet to be proven though.
