Mumbai: Remember Oscar winning Ellen Page starrer Juno that talks about teenage pregnancy? Well, that's what Satish Kaushik's forthcoming film Tere Sang is also about teenage pregnancy.
But the filmmaker is quick to deny that his film is a copy. He insists that he wrote Tere Sang much before Juno hit the theatres in 2007.
Kaushik says, "It has nothing to do with Juno. In fact, when I was there at Toronoto film festival for my film Bricklane, I was shocked to see that Juno had the same storyline as my story but I had already finished shooting my film by then. Both the films are dealing with this young girl having a child, the films are entirely different."
So how did Satish Kaushik come up with the storyline for Tere Sang in the first place?
"Well, I checked this site standup girl.com and it was quite impressive to see the girls writing their experiences on it. In fact, I have also taken some instances from it...basically that triggered off the idea and I decided to make a film on it."
Though some might term it as a risky and bold subject for a bollywood film, but Tere Sang's lead actors Ruslaan Mumtaz and debutant Sheena are more than comfortable with it.
In fact, they are glad to be a part of a film that advocates safe sex!
Ruslaan says, "When I was a teenager, I was nothing like how the characters in this film are. I had no idea about all this, but teenagers now-a-days are exposed to a lot of things. When you are 16-17, you think everything you do you can get away with that but sometimes you do and sometimes you don’t. So all I will say is just be careful yaar..:"
While we will have to wait and see if Tere Sang is indeed a copy of Juno or not, we have to give to Satish Kaushik for attempting to do something zara hatke (off beat), and reflecting a social issue with his film.
