Mumbai: Two young Mumbaikars Reuben Fernandez and Keenan Santos lost their lives fighting off men sexual harassing their friends. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has now said the state will demand death penalty for the accused.
"The incident is absolutely reprehensible. I have sympathies with the families. We have taken strict action against the four accused involved in the incident. They have been arrested and we we will demand death for the accused," Chavan said.
Meanwhile, the family and friends of Reuben and Keenan are proud of the way both of them fought for justice and now demand justice for the two.
"When I'll meet him in heaven, I will hug him and tell him that he has made me proud," Keenan's father said.
Their friends also expressed anger on how the onlookers in the city did not offer any help. "We don't know why nobody came forward. We were begging for help. Nobody did, even when we were trying to take them to the hospital, nobody helped us lift them," Keenan's friend Priyanka said.
