Thiruvananthapuram: The tough men in khaki are surprising all in Kerala with their acting prowess—they are policemen playing a role for a good cause.
They say it’s a novel way of changing people's perception about cops.
"The play will be screened in various schools, public places and forums to educate people on what the police is doing for them," says the Commissioner of Police, Thiruvananthapuram, Manoj Abraham.

It's not just the policemen who are participating in the play, school children too took part in the plays as well.
For a change, the cops also played the bad guy in the play and the director, Nandan Pillai, found the men in uniform much easier to work with.
"I was very happy to work with the cops. Many of them are very talented and the best part is that compared to professionals actors they are much more easy to deal with," says Pillai.
The cops have taken on fictional roles for a good cause
The cops are enjoying every bit of it, and they feel this is good way of getting closer to people.
"I am a member of Kerala police and I am very happy to be part of this project," says a police officer, Rajkumar.
After facing the flak for rise in custodial deaths, the Kerala police is now being appreciated for this effort towards being more people-friendly.
