Chennai: Tamil Nadu police have registered an FIR against Kerala CPI-M secretary Pinarayi Vijayan as he failed to produce the original licence of his pistol and take back the bullets, seized from him while boarding a flight from Chennai airport to New Delhi on February 16.
Submitting a photocopy of the licence, Vijayan had agreed to take back the bullets, which he had claimed were in his suitcase because ‘memory lapse’.
Usually in such cases, police sources said, incidents were recorded in a community service register and the person was given some grace period to produce the original documents.
