Malappuram: The police have arrested one more person in connection with the Kuni twin murder case. IUML Eranad constituency secretary Parammal Ahmedkutty was arrested by the police here on Wednesday after a long interrogation session. Special Investigation Team member DySP Mohanachandran informed that the accused was aware of the conspiracy behind the murder of Kolakkadan Azad and Kolakkadan Aboobacker.

In a controversial speech he made days before the twin murder, Ahmedkutty had declared support for Mujeeb Rehman, one of the key suspects in the case. Eranad MLA P K Basheer was also present at the venue of the speech. Mujeeb Rehman was injured in the attack allegedly carried out by the members of Kolakkadan family which took the life of his brother Atheekh Rehman. The Kolakkadan brothers were reportedly murdered in revenge for the killing of Atheekh Rehman.

The Areekode police registered Ahmedkutty’s name as the first accused in the FIR prepared on June 11. P K Basheer MLA was included as the sixth accused in the FIR. However, Mujeeb Rehman is still absconding and is said to be in one of the Gulf countries. Efforts are going on to bring him back to Kerala.
