Palode (Kerala): Mohammed Iqbal, a resident of Palode village in Kerala, can float on water for five hours continuously. And what might look like an eerie sight to onlookers, is just his way of relaxing.
"You sleep on your bed at home but I do it on the water surface, that's the only difference. The mental peace I find in doing this is something close to what you get when you do yoga," says Mohammed Iqbal.
For Iqbal, this is just water-yoga. But the very sight of this man floating on the waters for hours undoubtedly sends shivers down the spines of at least a few villagers.
In fact, the first time Iqbal tried floating in Kallar river, the whole village was in a tizzy.
"We called in the police and fire-force and even threw stones near the the body to check if it was alive. But he fooled all of us and after a long time he just came alive, shocking everyone," says Sadasivan, a villager.
And now, Iqbal is not alone performing his trick. A few more villagers have learnt the art, but none of them can stay on water as long as Iqbal can. Some other villagers are worried these floaters could end up like the boy who cried wolf.
