New Delhi: Kerala's link to terror seems to be getting deeper. Police now suspect that the two militants killed in Kashmir a fortnight ago were from Kerala and this discovery has sparked off a frenzy of raids across the state.
The first in the list were the homes of Muhammad Fayas and Abdul Raheem, believed to have been the terrorists shot dead in Kashmir. These identities were unearthed barely a week after the police arrested Abdul Jaleed, who they believe is part of the hardline Muslim outfit National Development Front.
With the Home Ministry planning a special cell to tackle terror, the Kerala Police promised several more raids in the future.
But the families of the terror suspects allege that they are being harrassed without reason.
Muhammad Fayas' mother, Fathima says, "It was in August that he left home to study the Quran in Ahmedabad. He was taken by a neighbour who last told us that he is in a hostel in Ahmedabad where he is doing well. He can't be the one who got killed in Kashmir."
Abdul Raheem's brother, Saleem adds, "Raheem was caught in a few criminal cases before and was later let-off by the police. He then got married and later left looking for a job. We last saw him two months ago."
