Click to play videoThrissur: As students get ready for a new academic session, it's the busiest time of the year for Kunnamkulam's notebook industry.
Come April, May and June, Kunnamkulam's notebooks reach all across Kerala and many places in the country. During this time the notebook industry alone earns close to Rs 200 crore.
“From February to May we have record sales almost every year. Close to 200 families are engaged in work at my factory alone,” says businessman, C T Sunny.
And for poor students like Vishnudas this industry is like a boon granted.
“This is my vacation time. I have been working here since the last two months. Now I have made enough money to buy books, stationary and shoes for this academic year,” says Vishnudas.
But that’s not enough because with cricketers Dhoni and Sachin on the cover page, these notebooks are very much in demand.
